Re: Only golden ears have closed minds -- all objective audiophiles started out as golden ears

Virtually all objective audiophiles have discovered electronics, and especially wires, playing music at the same SPL sound more alike to their ears than they had previously believed.

Well in my case it is the exact opposite. The more years in the hobby the less I believe this. I did not want to spend the money, nor believe, like in the case of a power cable connected to a piece of gear that changes AC to DC that a power cable will make a difference. Who wants to spend 2,3,5 hundred dollars or more on these things? However today I now feel cables, both power and interconnect, make a big difference. But there is a rational explination to my brain anyway. After working in the business for twenty five years able to get interconnects and power cables at less than cost and demo them for free I still rarely tried them because I had aready spent enough money elsewhere. This changed in about the year 2000. There are a few reasons. I worked in a better store with better gear and I owned better gear. Its easier to hear the affect of cables with a set of Quads on CJ amps than say my early 90's gear which was an NAD and lower end pair of JM Labs speakers. Still there is no doubt recordings and speakers are the easiest places to hear differences BUT source components and cable differences are easier for me to hear now more than ever. Again three main reasons:

1) Better components and cables
2) Actually trying and using better components and cables
3) More refined ear from using better equipment

Can you imagine what a person who only had a McDonalds burger would say when he/she had a Fuddruckers burger?
Can you imagine what a person who only had Boones Farm wine had a very good $25/bottle wine? Can you imagine someone who only drove an early 60's VW Beetle would think after driving a 2006 Passat?

My wife make no claims to be an "audiophile" and she can tell you what/where the difference is without sitting in the sweet spot.
I know if you came to my house you would easily hear the differnce. The door is open anytime. Please take the challenge! By the way what do you use to listen with? Your "inmate system" is obviously a Lampoon. I have seen you post about a Cambridge CD player and a lower end Carver Amp (TCM 15) Please take my point without thinking it is an attempt to compare stereo systems with you or anyone. PLEASE!! I wouldn't waste my time posting I would just send you a private email cussing you out and all the other things trolls do on the internet.
