A local dealer that deals in SET amps told me the same thing, but I needed confirmation from a few more people. His advice got me to turn my tubes up quite loud with 55 watts. ( While remaining fairly cautious) He expalined that tubes clip softly and do less damage then a low watts SS amp would.Your advice is exactly what I was hoping to hear. As long as I don't hear high levels of distortion I am safe right? (so far I hear very little) I'm really starting to wonder why anyone would need more then 60 watts...
Tommorow I put my Classe up for sale. My Tube amp sounds much better and if what you say is true, I see no need for 600 watts. Thanks again, this really made my night.
