55 watts tube vs 600 watts SS...Rules broken

Recently, I purchased a pair of Thiel CS6's and a new amp (Classe CA-301) to match the difficult load of the Thiels. From what I've read and heard, the Thiel/Classe mix works very well.

Today, for the hell of it, I connected my old CJ MV60 tube amp (55 watts per channel) to the big Thiels. (breaking all audiophile law) To my ears, everything I played sounded MUCH nicer. I also found that I liked the sound of the tube amp louder then the SS. The Classe sounded great, but caused fatigue at higher listening levels.

No, the tube amp cannot blast a symphony at high volumes. It cannot play kettle drums or the a cannon fire like the Classe. The blast of a cannon and kettle drums are something I can live without. When the tube amp falls flat on its face,(Cannon shots etc..) it does it in a nice sounding way. My move back to SS was short and I am seriously considering selling the Classe. If you ever think of going back to SS think twice !
