not find fault. I have a fair amount of experience with soldering, brazing, and welding using a varity of techniques/equipment.In almost every case if you are looking to not harm the base material performing the operation in the quickest possible time is key.
Intentionally wetting part of the lead typically will make it take much longer to make the joint and actually allows more energy to be transfered to the part. Think thermal momentum. With my soldering station I can hold a resistor in place on a PCB and solder it without burning my finger. Also a decent soldering station will improve your ability.
But enough on this matter and I won't bring it up again
