Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Thanks. But are we talking apple or orange ?

Hi.

The apple I am talking is that it is always a good practice for audio DIYers here to safeguard heat sensitive parts from possible damage on soldering. A very simple & effective way of prevention is to use fluid cooling -water. Free from the tap.

The orange you tell me is to "invest" in a temp controlled soldering station. Yes, good idea. But given crumsy soldering like mine, how would it help to saveguard the SMDs with a expensive soldering station alone ???? Where the heat goes ?

My cheapie way of using water cooling never fails me with a cheapie 40W iron to get shiny beaded joints ALL the time.
