Hi ,
I don't understand what the fuss is about with cooling of components while soldering . Although I'm by no means the neatest of workers , I have worked in the past worked for an MOD contractor , the only components we ever clamped to keep cool were MMICs which at the time were extremely expensive . I also worked for four years in production and base repair , overheating parts during soldering was never an issue . Decent soldering irons , decent solder and cleaning of leads prior to soldering is far more important . Considering flow soldering machines leaded components on PCB's or the heating methods used for SMD during production , really makes a mockery of the idea of cottonbuds and clamps IMOcheers

- Lack of practice is not a valid reason to shove wet cotton buds on your work ;) - fatbottle 15:28:52 01/25/07 (0)
