You should be able to purchase a number of cheap ($15 or so) kits that do silly things like sound alarms or count or buzz or something like that. The advantage to doing a kit is that you'll get your practice and you'll when whether your soldering is successful by whether the thing works.BTW, I built a Transcendence grounded-grid preamp. Very good instructions, easy build. Recommended. But pay the extra and get the upgraded volume control.
