I misunderstood what you meant about moving the thing around. I thought you meant moving it around your house.

Reason I didn't recommend something like the Sony TCD-D8 is that even used, they are going for big bucks. You are paying for small size. You also have no balanced inputs, and all of youur I/O is 1/8 minijack. Aside from that, they're great machines. They do have an SPDIF I/O but that is also 1/8 mini and the cable for that is very expensive. My friend paid 50 bucks for one, and that was the cheapest we could find.

The TC-D5 is a great machine too, but it's still cassette.

How about an Otari MX-5050?? Only what, 58 lbs? Just kidding :)
