No it's not - it's an absolute. The reality of any recording is real and fixed. Faithfully reproducing it means exactly what it says - reproducing the contents of the recording faithfully. No commentary just an exact duplication of what was recorded.Realism is not fluid it's also fixed. Though the reality of each recording differs they never change, ie. they are not fluid. Perceptual reality may be fluid but this has nothing to do with "realism" or with "faithful reproduction".
