Good point. Most aspects of the placebo effect take place at the subconscious level. "Sub" means below, which means we are not aware of the influence. (If we were aware of it, then the influence wouldn't be "subconscious," would it?)

I find it rather humorous when people think they are so special that well established factors in human behavior don't apply to them. Or, they tell themselves there is something different about audio that makes it exempt from those human influences.

In either situation, the diagnosis is a case of "severe terminal uniqueness."
