Happiness is learning how well you hear & targeting audio spending where it makes an audible difference to you

For people who listen to wires with the brand names hidden, so far it appears audible differences are not very likely. Therefore spending money on "upgraded" wires is not likely to make an audible difference -- although thicker wires might be a little louder.

There is great joy in experimenting and learning about how well you can hear -- the knowledge gained helps make a better informed decision on what new audio equipment will make a long-term improvement to the sound quality of your audio system. Making a wise "investment" always makes me feel good.

On the other hand, it's much easier to simply believe that all components sound different ... and then extrapolate that belief into "knowing" YOU can hear all those differences. No reason to "test" a belief because you might fail the test!

I prefer judging audio equipment with the brand names hidden and both components playing at the same volume -- call me a purist, if you must, but I prefer audio component judgements based solely on sound quality.

I don't care if the brand is worshipped by other audiophiles, in the Stereophile recommended list, or whether the component looks expensive.
