Once Again I Agree With You In Part

Soundmind you asked me "...how would you know what "accurate" sounds like if you'd rarely if ever heard the real thing to compare a recording too?"

I have to admit that if I wasn't exposed to as much live music as I am I wouldn't really know what "accurate" was at all! In fact, because I do actually expose myself to so much live music I know, for example, that brass instruments have a lot of "bite" to them. That might seem like a trvial thing, but this is something the average audiophile/music lover doesn't know and you have to hear live to honestly realize the extent of it.

I've heard some audiophiles/music lovers, who don't have sufficient exposure to live music, claim an audio system has too much "bite" when in all reality it's honestly replicating what the brass instrument sounds like.

I agree with this belief of yours Soundmind "that's where a lot of them are at." I am always telling my audiophile/music loving friends to attend as much live music as they can. For it's only through repeated exposure in many different listening venues that one can honestly begin to train their ear as to what musically accurate sounds like.
