Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Most Likely Fixed....

Soundmind you said "In another, audiophiles were assembled in a large room and told they would be listening to a new speaker system hidden behind a curtain and asked for their opinion of its accuracy. There was apparantly much to criticize, muddy boomy bass, indistinct highs and a lot of other negative comments. When the curtain was drawn aside, it was revealed that they had been listening to a live string quartet." and "It's experiments like these and several I've seen for myself which convinces me that what many audiophiles think they hear and what they actually can hear are worlds apart."

All those tests proved was those particular audiophiles had some serious issues with their hearing and/or weren't exposed to enough life music to qualify as judges of what sounds real or not. I wouldn't put either option past Audio, High Fidelity or Stereo Review as they were Objectivists anyway to the best of my memory. What better way to prove your belief system correct?

I for one have never mistaken live music for recorded music or visa versa. I attend as much live music as I possibly can. Thank GOD WLOQ here in Central Florida sponsers a lot of live jazz concerts from Spring to Fall. I also get invited to hear live symphonies at Bob Carr auditorium as well. Anyone who couldn't tell live from recorded needs their hearing checked, period! Do you often mistake live music for recorded Soundmind?
