Blinded tests and sighted follow-ups

A listener thinks item A sounds better than item B in sighted listening, but does a blinded comparison and can’t hear a difference. In a follow-up sighted comparison of the two items, the listener may (1) hear no difference, (2) prefer the sound of B, or (3) prefer the sound of A, his initial preference. My guess is “hear no difference” would be the most frequent response of listeners who have done such comparisons, but I can imagine preferences in follow-up sighted listening conflicting with blinded findings. Does anyone know of studies or have personal experience on the subject.
