AAC, also, with a GOOD encoder, hasn't been distinguished at 320kb/s for two channels...

Perhaps some day the music industry will embrace that technology. On the other hand with storage densities and data transmission rates rising as they are, there may not be a compelling reason to go to the effort. I think you'll agree that the formats and typical bit rates used commercially today run from dreadful to merely mediocre.

Some years ago, I ripped all my CDs to MPEG 1 Layer 3 at 320 kb for listening on my home computer. I get good results. I later purchased a much larger drive and now simply copy new music at full 1,440 kb WAV format. I get better results.
