I probably don't have a problem with most of what you've said here. There's no doubt that we do tend to use all of the input/information/beliefs at our disposal to make judgements and I suspect that on balance that results in more right than wrong decisions in everyday life. But I do acknowledge that it can become problematic as we try to determine whether or not there is a difference between 2 different presentations of something and our senses detect little or no difference between them.And may I thank you for a considered, rational post with only one "Y'all say". It's refreshing to see that you can actually write a reasoned post when you want to.
