big batteries are worth the trouble if you want to get above "hi-fi" sound. The point about current is faster transient reponse-- not current capacity. Low-current op amps, monolithic buffers, CDP clocks, DACs, CD servo/motors, etc. gain smoothness, purity and BIG dynamics after these refinements to the battery supply-- particularly when the op amps are run unregulated. My small circle has done comparisons to AC/DC regulation using custom diode bridges and discrete regulators such as ALWSR/Jung & Audiocom Invisus. No contest.Regarding caps, anybody with an Altmann Attraction BYOB or Red Wine battery supply should try adding a 50,000uf string of Rubycon 1500uf ZLs between the battery terminals. These caps can be had over the internet for pennies, and upgrading batteries in this manner will spin your head around.
