Batteries & Electrolytic Caps

I've tried batteries of various types in low-current applications involving op amps and DSPs. Even in low-current applications, large high-AH SLA batteries (as desired to obtain low impedance of 2-3 milohm) sound far more dynamic than small alkaline or NiMH (which have orders-of-magnitude greater internal resistance.) Moreover, even big, fast batteries are greatly improved with small electrolytic caps wired into large parallel arrays (to achieve high capacitance with low ESR.) With total capacitance around 50,000uf you will be blown away by the improvement in transient response relative to straight batteries. I seriously doubt you will find any AC/DC source that equals it. The car stereo crowd figured out batteries w/caps long while back.
