The way around it is tobe specific.Castro is a dictator yet health care for all is socialistic, he also has a higher per capita literacy rate than either America or Canada. Yes his country is pitifully poor but that is largely due to sanctions.Then you have Canada - a socialistic country with health care for all but with the stipulation that under threat the prime minister has total power. -- That effectively makes him a dictator.
The US has prime examples of thios all over the map - you are FREE so long as you conform to whatever government deems correct morally at that moment in history from not being allowed to pleasure partner in the bedroom, to smoking a naturally created plant at your discretion. Government is smarter than you and thus tells you how to live your life. That is in no terms FREE. Yes democracy sets the rules for society - but this is not necessarily any better than a despot dictator. Media influences thought and people, dumb ones which count for most, are persuaded every which way. One intelligent fair minded despot would be a better option than a democracy filled mostly with apathetic sheep and large advert campains run by power hungry people in boadrooms.
Capitalism is a free market - and that is followed by capitalistic governments UNTIL it does not work in their favour and when it does not then enter a socialistic protectionism based system to stack the deck - when the democratic freedom loving governments needs something done that crushes the beliefs it has laid down as standards then it steps directly on that. The more powerful the country the more this can be seen in action almost daily.
Freedom is a completely misused term - relative freedom sure - but part of the brilliance today in creating an apathetic and THUS controllable populous is to fatten them up enough to make the fight go out of them. The Joe average who gets hios $50K a year wioth his $50K a year making wife has his 2.2 kids and his two dogs and a house he will pay for for the next 20 years and his newly leased monthly payment vehichle and student loans is not going to stand up and fight the fight against the government -- after all it's someone elses problem and besides Friends is on TV and he has to get the new Star Wars sequel for the dvd player. Really the government tapping his phone? Who cares right.
