I remember

I used to hang out at High Fidelity of Lubbock and listen to all the stuff;I couldn't afford to buy but they let me kill a lot of time there. The 901 was pretty close to top of the line;they also had AR and McIntosh. Advent was the middle line, and I think Technics was as low as they went. They also carried Braun, I think.

901's were quite good on large-scale orchestral music. Solo instruments and chamber music, the big diffuse image wasn't so hot. Advents were at least as good on organ music, and much cheaper.Never tried much solo voice. I can't remember if they were Series 2 or 3.
