for the setup you propose, the signal will appear as common mode only if signal currents flow equally out of each half of the filament.if you model the filament as a CT 5 ohm resistor and apply signal to the CT and ground the signal through a 50 ohm CT resistor then indeed no signal will flow through the battery, but offset any of those values a bit and current starts to flow through the battery.
So the question becomes are the signal currents at either side of the filament identical for a DHT with the setup you propose?
