Hi.That's what I've done. Working on my 6V5AH SLA heaters supply like a chime (charger rated 9.68V7.2A switch mode - cost me dirt cheap)
Make sure you put a current limiting series resistor of CORRECT value & a stopper diode in series of the charger O/P.
There are tons of conventional SLA charger kits available in electronic parts shops if you want to build one from scrape.
