Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

That's what I thought until I tried it.

I first tried this on the 71s in my preamp where I used a higher DCR (about 5 ohms) to drop 6.3 V to 5V. I should have added that part of the voltage drop is a small toroidal common mode choke after the large IE differential mode choke.

I felt that there was a worthwhile reduction in background grunge. I *think* this is due to better isolation from the battery but I cannot test this proposition, therefore it isn't falsifiable, therefore it isn't science (Thank you Karl Popper).
