You would still have a load resistor for the tube....right?I do agree that IT coupling would be closer to a horizontal loadline. As to second order distortion, I'd say the tube used would play a part. I would also say IT coupling (or CCS or choke loading) would cut down on odd order distortion and that might end up being sweeter sounding. My limited experience with magnetic parts would indicate that they tend more towards the organic sound than the clinical/sterile sound.
