Mmmm. "As good as" or simply that electrolytics just weren't so bad as to be audible?

It's the fact that people are now saying it is impossible for Black Gates to sound as good as films because they are electrolytic.

Ah. Well yeah, I guess if one previously argued that there was no audible difference between films and electrolytics, it would be kind of silly to try and make the argument you give above.

The current conventional wisdom is the heresy of old. 30 years ago, there were plenty of people who thought electrolytics were just as good as films for audio circuits, and to suggest that electrolytics were bad was craziness.

But ultimately, then as today, they're saying fundamentally the same thing: The differences aren't audible.

Ok, maybe it wasn't the perfect analogy.....

Perhaps not. But hey, at least it was something to yammer about. I've got a couple of multi-week lead times on some stuff I need to finish up a project. Goin' stir crazy. :)
