Frustration

In response to a post by Steve Eddy, I posted the following under the contorted thread that got moved over from Tweaks. But I am concerned it will get lost in that maze and I feel strongly enough about what I'm saying that I'm going to start a new thread with what I said in that post:

"Jon's refusal to discuss specifics whenever his pronouncements are challenged, his incessant, mind-numbing yeasayer/naysayer claptrap, his repeated use of objectionable language, his repeated personal attacks in violation of Asylum rules, and his abuse of power by threatening to ban, and banning, those who take his unsupported theories to task have, in my opinion, seriously contaminated and undermined the Asylum.

Unfortunately, few speak up. Apparently, many prefer technical discussions of audio issues to be more like attendance at church (where one’s beliefs can be reinforced) and less like attendance at a science class (where objective verifiable truth is the goal).

Don’t get me wrong. I attend church regularly to nurture my spiritual side. But I think I have a pretty good handle on where to draw the line between spiritual beliefs and matters and issues of scientific objectivity. When I read technical discussions on AA I want to read posts that are seeking the truth rather than demonstrating how many different obnoxious and offensive techniques a person can employ to promote his own personal agenda and beliefs."

I'm just a layperson wanting to learn a little about audio from technically qualified people. Is it asking too much to want something to be done here at the Asylum to put an end to the counter-productive behavior that seems to thwart productive technical discussions at every turn?

I don't give one hoot about yeasayers and naysayers. I do care about spirited and informed debate over theories, proof and substantiation - you know - all that scientific method stuff as applied to audio. Sadly, I feel I'm in the very small minority of Inmates.
