HowdyThe Cirrus chips are designed for almost synchronous clocks and resample the input with the output clock. This, in effect, encodes any jitter in the input clock in the output data. Some like the sound of this better than using a PLL to track the input clock (which has it's own problems.) Others, like Todd don't like that sound.
(Personally I don't like the idea of encoding the input jitter in my data, etc. but my modified Perp Tech P-3A DAC sounded pretty darn good in spite of my distaste of it's implementation :)
