"We are simply fairly demanding in what we will accept as evidence."The problem is the end-user only needs to satisfy himself. He could voice his satisfaction. And anyone else can state that they either experience similar satisfaction or don't. Or kindly state agreement or disagreement from a scientific standpoint, if such information could prove valuable. No harm, no foul.
I personally think "asynchronous upsampling" is a phony technology, like many here think exotic cables are phony technology. But if someone likes how "asynchronous upsampling" sounds, he need not provide evidence in why he thinks it sounds good- His personal satisfaction with the product is what matters. The same holds true if he likes exotic cables, Bose speakers, CD treatments, digital amplifiers, etc., etc. ....
I think some people have a problem with others enjoying audio products, which from a scientific angle shows no obvious or tangible reason for such enjoyment to occur.... But if one truly applied science, he would strive to improve upon the existing science to better-correlate with the subjective findings, not demand people's subjective findings to conform to static and archaic scientific doctrine.
