It's not only likely that everyone fools themselves, it's pretty much a done deal. It has nothing to do with audiophiles, it has nothing to do with gullibility, stupidity, or anything of the sort, IT IS HOW YOUR AUDITORY SYSTEM WORKS.It is tuned to "notice" differences. Since "difference" is by nature probabilisitic, and since we seem to be tuned to never miss a real difference, we all, and I mean ALL of us, detect a lot of differences that DO NOT EXIST.
That is the nature of your hearing apparatus.
You don't have any choice, live with it.
