Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Wrong problem

The problem is NOT that objectivists can not or do not believe that subjectivists hear what they hear, it's that they don't believe that there is something to be heard. And no amount of uncontrolled listening tests will prove that cable A actually and really does sound different from cable B.

If all cables were at $10 per stereo meter, possibly no one would start an argument when someone claims that he hears differences between cables. It's because prices for cables are astronomically high because they allegedly sound different (and usually better). If an interconnect costs $5000 per set, it better sounds better than the $10 wire, otherwise, why spend the money.

The customers of such cables do not require proof so it's fine for the manufacturers. The more skeptical customer does require proof. And because such proof does not exist, the skeptical customer will not buy any suchy cable.

Me too, I used to believe in what audio mags wrote, but then I read some technical papers that were quite eye-opening and I became skeptical. Good for my wallet, bad for most manufacturers.
