Pat,As I've told you numerous times in the past. What I do is simply shut the amp off, have the person change the interconnects and then turn the amp back on. So I don't attempt to match level to the nth degree between two sets of interconnects or two CDPs?
I know that NOTHING I do will ever be sufficinet for you or other Objectivists. Everytime I meet one of your "controls" another control that must be met drops into place. You, yourself told me just to attempt a real blind test and I did, but now that doesn't suffice either.
The sheer arrogance of Objectivists like yourself amazes me. I tried to find common ground the opposing sides could share. Somewhere that somehow could possibly explain how both Objectivists and Subjectivists could both be correct! That common ground was a) Subjectivists really are hearing differences and b) Objectivists will prove this scientifically once the proper set of criteria that needs to mentioned is determined. But even that's not enough for you and your fellow Objectivists. I've come to believe that even more important that being correct, is the need to prove Subjectivists wrong.
FYI just because a post has some length doesn't mean it rambles (and mine doesn't) Your comment of "Anyway, I never intended to deal with everything in your long and rambling post." is just another Objectivist tactic for not answering my questions that have you/them confounded.
As I've said many times in the past Objectivist don't want to know the truth, they just want to be right. Sure you all sound scientific but it's a sad and obvious fact that what Objectivists are measuring plays no part in determining: A) How the human ear measures differences in sound and B) How the brain interpets what the ear hears to decide what sounds real and what dosen't." Hence your tests are completely meaningless in revealing whether or not Subjectivists are actually hearing what they say they hear.
In the end it's unfortunate for you and those who believe like you, for you are only preventing yourselves from making some rather substantial improvements to the sound of your system. I feels sorry for you Pat. Your head is wedged so firmly between the cheeks of your beliefs you're unwilling to even admit the possibility that you, as an Objectivist might be mistaken in the set of criteria you've chosen use to determine the validity of Subjectivists claims.
