I know that "common sense" has no place in engineering circles but I wonder if a full-wave tube rectifier is the perfect complement to a full-wave single ended amp.After all, it's not like the actual source signal is what we hear. Rather, an amplified signal modulates the PS, and a ramped-up power source via the PS modulates the speakers. The "signal" "itself" gets dumped.
Anyway, I also hear differences in rectifiers, etc., along with pretty much every other part I can sub and then listen for.
Unlike a previous poster, I am not so sure that a "good sounding" power supply design is as simple as stiff SS regulation.
Unlike you, I have found that different rectifiers "sound different" in different circuits, so it would be harder for me to say which type is "best" across the board as you have done.
