"Stranger than that is that I'm reaching the opinion that they, very much improve over their lifespan as usage goes up. I have three Mullard EZ90's (all yellow print and visually the same and measure the same) one NOS/NIB, one could be NOS, the last one a pull from some very old gear and has a build up of gunge inside the base. This last one sounds so much better than the others and this is not marginal, its streets ahead. Could of course be the date/point of manufacture, but the difference is as they say night and day."likely the vacuum inside the NOS tubes are slightly compromised. you'll need to run them for a while to let the getter deal with whatever gas is inside. getters do not work as well when they're cold.
