Its a fascinating subject made more so because we don't quite understand what is going on. My wife thinks I am a bit nuts to spend hours tinkering about with silly old bits of junk as she calls my lovingly crafted SE amp but i don't care. Its all about enjoying music the way you want to hear it with the satisfaction of knowing that "I did it my way"Re my PSU: its CLCLC 2 MFD input followed by 6 H choke then 32 MFD 1 H then 200MFD cerafine. I just happened to have the chokes in my ham radio junk box, Transformer is an audio note 425 0 452
It looks very good on the Duncan Amps simulator software and interestingly the 5R4 gives the best damping. I suspect that the rectifier interacting with the PSU will define the final outcome hence different tubes sound different, add the differing amounts of HF noise produced by different tubes and we get these interesting variations.
