Yes Andy; that's one answer. I was hoping that folks would take a bit more time to investigate what's going on in the regulator section. If I may I would like to ask you the following: Does it make sense to you that you need transformer that has 50 to 100 times the current you say is required? If it does, fine.
I really think you are missing one of the great things about DIY, and that is taking the time to educate oneself on how and why things work and when and how they don't work. Getting there, and the education one receives is just as satisfying to many of us as the final result.
