Is this rerally how you interpreted my posts, or are you simply choosing to mis-understand?"What I find most disturbing is the consistant rejection not merely of any proposed objective methodology for measuring these simple devices and correlating their results with perceived differences but the rejection that such a methodology is even possible."
Huh? My original post pointed out that we don't yet have a way to correlate objective and subjective data, therefore one could not jump to conclusions about quality ratings. Measuring and uncovering patterns is always a good idea.
In fact it is the AH site that explicitly rejects any methodology for correlating perceived differences and measurements.
Are you an idiot or a troll?
"What is further disturbing is that there is some insistance that the electrical characterization of these devices is somehow to be disconnected from the way it alters electrical signals on an absolute basis and can only be characterized by how one device alters it compared to another."
Don't know where you got this from. As Dan and I have discussed, cables need to be measured in the context of a source and load, including ground interactions. Are you saying that disagreeing with your naive proposal of a shunt test means that we are repudiating all objecive testing? Bit of a leap...
I am absolutely certain that it is possible to develop a set of measurements for audio cables that is an effective predictor of both neutrality and character. Of course, if you don't go looking, you won't find anything......
Were you actually interested in a discussion, or was this a long work-up to the "we already know everything" position?
