Your explanation is certainly the best I've seen - I hadn't considered some of the external exciting sources for the back emf's.Btw, I did measure my braided speaker cable this evening. Each length is around 8' and I measured 263 pF capacitance between conductors and less than 1uH inductance (either one of two conductors or shorted loop mutual inductance measured.) This is the total value, btw, not normalized per foot as the figures in Dan Banquer's linked article are, and this cable has conductivity equivalent to an 8AWG cable.
