Where do you think we are?

It's a serious question; I wasn't attempting to be contentious in the earlier post. I was simply trying to put the debate about cable measurements in perspective.

Since the only purpose of an audio interconnect or speaker cable is to transmit music, it seems to me that the only relevant measure of success is (ultimately) the subjective result.

Does a cable in an audio system have any other raison d'etre?

How can you make a value judgement about a cable if you don't evaluate its fitness for its sole job? Would you rate a car without driving it? A wine without tasting it?

Since we cannot reliably measure the audible effect of a cable, we can't (yet) correlate the measurements with the ultimate value.
