So you disagree with Robert W. Adams? This isn't the usual Peter Aczel pontificating on a soapbox editorial. Yes, Aczel has eaten more crow than I have chicken... and I eat a lot of chicken! Just because it was in the Audio Critic doesn't make it Error, any more than publication in Stereophile makes it Truth.
This is quite an article. This is a slightly "dumbed down" version of AES Preprint 3712 simplified for the typical audiophile. It explains what jitter is, where it comes from and what the effects are when the jitter enters various DAC architectures with different kinds of output filters. His conclusion is that jitter measurements should not be made by reviewers to assess signal quality, although they are useful in the design stage. Unfortunately, this article didn't get the circulation or attention it deserved because of where it was published.You want citations? I count 8 citations in the Reference section.
