can cause a sonic difference between the sample rates.
As for the classic records. If those are sampled at 24/192 and the 24/96 track is a down conversion instead of a transfer sampled at 24/96 the difference could be caused by the downsampling.You cannot draw such conclusions without ensuring that your equipment is the cause/limiting factor.
