that's like comparing apples with oranges.true, analog tape has a lower dynamic range due to to tape hiss. but you can hear musical details "below" tape hiss, whereas you can't really hear details below the digital noise floor (dithering and noise shaping notwithstanding).
and you also get artefacts with digital like impulse response ringing that you don't with analog.
put it in another way - if analog tape is inferior to CD quality PCM then there should be no advantage in releasing DVD-A and SACD of analog mastered recordings. yet on these discs we do hear an improvement over the CD. so therefore the CD is not quite capturing everything there is on analog tape.
