where's the "ground" leg go on a battery supply? I have a DAC powered by a 12V 7ah battery, and there is no ground wire, as I have no idea where the heck I'd run that.I've bypassed the battery with much more capacitance than you suggest, as I had a pile of caps laying around from a gutted old project. Something like 5000uf total, spread across various cap sizes down to 47pf. Seems to work well, although I think it was overkill. Those caps are inside my DAC, close to the PCB, far from the battery.
Question on the chokes - what would you use on a DAC? it has no gain stage, only the anlog outs straight from the D/A chips to coupling caps. Do I even need to worry about it?
Another qustion - my battery is a few feet away, and I use a simply 18awg wire slightly twisted to get the DC power to the DAC where the regulators sit. Any reason to worry about the cord regarding shielding or noise pickup given this is DC?
