Hi.Neutral tone & coherency are my favours too among other sonic virtues.
Yes, full range electrostatic panels no doubt deliver them. But being pretty directional, we got to bend the panel out to achieve
wider horizontal & vertical dispersion. This will make the overall panels surface area pretty huge. Not many housewives can tolerate it.
Added to this physical pitfall, its high & low frequencies roll off to make it sound like a mid-frequency transducer rather than "full range" as claimed.Nothing got no downsides, anyway.
For those who like bigger the better loudspeakers, have you ever tried to play recordings of a solo instrument, like a violin, a harp, a flute or a solo singer at the right livel volume?
My experience tells me the image comes out huge like a Golliah, totally blown out of its live proportion. I get the impression like I was sitting right in front of the music intrument on the stage instead of at a fair distance like attending a concert performance down the stage.
If any loudspeaker can't deliver the live size of the real thing at its live volume, forget about it as it fails to do its basic job.
As I said earlier, horn transducers deliver their characteristic colouration that it tends to add unwanted 'flavour' to any other instruments. Not desirable at all let lone not compact in size.
