Now that you mention it, in our family room we just have a small TV set and no music system at all. The kids and my wife each have either an ipod or an el-cheapo portable or listen to music on the computer. Except for my youngest, none of them seems to have the slightest interest in the "hi-fi" experience. Occasionally, my wife, who does have a music background, will comment on the sound of my system (usually positive) but she is as likely to enjoy listening to a third generation cassette played on a 25 year old in-car tape deck as she is to my system.
