Correlation is all that can be achieved and even that is BIG stretch most of the time.

The effect is a report of an internal experience. This can never be independently verified because it is directly tied to the subjective responses of both the subject and the investigator. This means we can never get past correlation and onto causation.

It is possible to determine specific causes only when both the postulated cause and the effect are indepently verifiable. . For example, the coincedent presense of a microbe and a demonstrable symptom does not prove that the microbe is causing the symptom. In this case we have Koch's postulates to independently study the symptom and the microbe and thereby determine cause and effect.

It is pure junk science to deliberately confuse correlation with causation.
