Thanks, that cleared it up for me as well!

My Audcom based TAD-150 preamp has two pairs of output posts. In order to A/B two pairs of ICs I had one pair connected to the A posts and the the other connected to the B posts of the preamp, with A feeding the CD input of my amp and B feeding the tuner input of the same amp.

By switching my amp between CD and Tuner I could hardly tell the difference between the cables.

Then I found that the A and B posts in the preamp used a common ground, as does the amp! When using only one cable hooked up from the same source (preamp) I was able to easily tell the difference. Yes, there was night-and-day difference between certain cables.

But I didn't figure out why until you cleared it up for me.
