Could someone make a truly horrible interconnect?

I mean really bad...slimey green corroded bad....stranded steel cable bad...whatever....can we agree that some types of "wire" would be "unsuitable" and thereby sound "bad". If so, isn't everything else just small refinements (better wire/insulation/geometery/etc)?

Oh, for the record, sure I can hear differences in cables but only between poor ones and decent ones...once I get to a certain point I don't hear improvment....belden 89259/radio shack gold is good enough for me (but the radio shack are tizzy:) Once I switched to tubes I found myself no longer thinking about cables as sibilance just wasn't the same problem anymore.
