Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Who are "anyone"? Not me & many other for sure. (long)

Hi.

Give me a break, please.

When you answer a phone call, you will immediately recognize this is your wife, or your parent or your best friend or someone you don't know at all, without prior knowledge of the caller. This is a basic instinct of aural perception. If one can't, there must be something very wrong with that person in its aural capability, to say the least.

Have you ever been questioned how you recognize your wife's voice instead of your workmate? Do you want to go over DBTs to prove to the world you can actully recognise your wife's voice w/o prior knowledge?

Likewise, our ear/brain can detect subtle sonic difference of various wires & cables. Mine can, to say the least. Surely they are not alone.

Why so many fail those sonic blind tests? There are so many flaws in those. Those BTs use A/B comparison of the same sonic programmes on & on. As I already suggested, it could trigger off our brain's weakness: failure to sense as result of monotonous continuous stimulation. Acupuncture-therapy, a thousands-year oriental medical practice, now a recognized medical practice in the West, applies the similar principle.

Why only look at the results those flawed tests instead of trying to look into how those blind tests are carried out. How can we depend on those tests basing on flawed implementation w/o even taking a close look into it? Hearsay or what???????

I never rule out psychologial part of our aural perception. But like it or not, this is part of the game. We are human, not a robot which
acts on pre-programmed directions.

As I already pointed out, we eat with our senses of taste, sight & smell involved. We listen with our senes of hearing, sight & feeling.
Lackng any of these are incomplete sensing procedure which may tberefore produce whatever outcome different to what we really listen in our normal way.

I never dispute the goodness of objective evaluation, but we definitely need much better & more relevant methodology to get the right findings.

Likewsie, what can those THD, IMD measured data, which we use since day one to evaluate an amp performance, tell us what the amp should sound? Nothing at all. 'Cause we have been meassuring the wrong things. We know those bunch of data are irrelevant sonically, therefore we don't even worry about them. Why so many still insisting the null result of blind tests are so absolutely valid???
