There are basically

three parameters which vary in cable performance: resistance, inductance, and capacitance. All three can vary independently in respect to each other. If you believe that these three parameters can not affect performance, then you are most correct. If you do believe that they can affect performance, then the question is how small a change can be audible.
Of course there are a few other things like skin effect, insulation leakage (see Daletech.com's website on their low leakage power cables for the medical industry, and be thankful that they make such things for your EKG machines and such!). If cables can not alter any of these parameters, then there are absolutely no differences in sound between them. Very simple and very easy to check.
