well, found some stuff...

Part of the ISO-8859-1 character set.. it looks like that box thingy is put up when an unsupported character is tried..these are ampersand pound characters from the 900 series that are not in my html for dummies book..tried some 8200, 8400, 8700, and 9800..I don't see a pattern in what is supported and what isn't.

Gonna re-google, see if a site has this stuff..
